1000th?

As I approach my 1000th hit on my blog I gotta know...who is the lucky reader?

Complete!

With the purchase of these last two toys on eBay today, I am now the proud owner of all Star Wars action figures from Episode 1, which are on the Episode 1 card! The question now is what to do with them? I think I’ll lay them out on my floor and stare at them. Yep I don't think I've ever been as cool as I am right now .

Don't you hate it when someone jumps in the background of a picture? Its even more annoying when that person is wearing shirt/hat of the opposing team. (look to the left)

GO DODGERS!

I tried, next time i'll do better.

I just wanted you all to know that I am doing my share to conserve during these hot days, by sitting in my office with the lights out (its less dangerous). I am also not using both my tv and radio at the same time which I normally do. You may all thank me later.

What I learned on Friday

I'm with Randall Graves, we need to take it back!

If you are in some way offended by this, just go see Clerks II

2013302011

Although that is probably a phone number for someone (I think you should call them and let them know the Dodgers suck) its really just the number of runs the Dodgers have scored in each of their first 10 games since the all star break that they have lost (that’s 10 loses out of 11 games). I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say you can't win that many games when you are only averaging just over 1 run a game. At least we have great pitching though.....oh wait we don't have much of that either. I am seriously tired of the Dodgers and the mediocrity. Lets see who I blame, I’ll find 10 people

1. Paul Stupidsta: For signing crappy players (who I’ll be talking about shortly) and for not going after players who have been more consistent throughout their careers. The only player I thank Paul for getting is Jeff Kent, although it was 4 years to late.

2. O-lame is Perez: When you are getting paid 8 million dollars and you suck, you should be thanking your lucky stars that anyone is paying you at all. Don't complain about being "treated like a trash" cause the Dodger fans feel the same whenever you come into a game.

3. Just Disabled Drew: 9 home runs? Really that’s it? You are hitting clean-up for the team and you are aware of this right? And get rid of that waving swing you have. You know the one that looks like you aren't even trying? Wait that’s most swings for you these days.

4. Frank McBankrupt: Yes I know you are doing better as an owner, but the first 2 years of your realm is still hurting the team. Just spend money, get quality players and stay out of the spotlight. Don't be Steinbrenner, don't be Cuban.

5. Jose Cruz Sr.: Okay he is actually a Jr. but how many years has he been in the league and how many years has he underachieved? Wow the answer is exactly the same for both questions! How does he still get playing time? Why is he still on the team? Why is he allowed to bat left-handed? These questions need answering...soon.

6. Grady "One more inning" Little: Not since Jim Tracy have I seen a manager who can leave a pitcher in way to long one day and not long enough the next day. At least he shows confidence in his team. "I think the Cardinals could have put Albert Pujols on the mound and he would have thrown a shutout"

7. Cesar(ian) Izturis: I only put that part in cause his wife just had a C-section that caused him to miss a week of playing. I understand that he is a good fielder, but he is really killing us offensively. Third Base is a power position, and no offense Cesar, but you are not He-Man, and you don't have the power.

8. Danny Bye Bye Baez: Remember when he was our closer? Yeah I try to block it out too. Regardless, he cost us at least 4 games that I can think of off the top of my head. He isn't all bad though, he did try to start a fight with the D-backs a few weeks ago when he hit Luis Gonzalez with a pitch the night after Gonzo called him out for hitting someone else on his team.

9. Dodger Pinch "Hitters": I put hitters in quotes, cause when you go up there and swing at the first pitch, things usually don’t' go your way. Make the pitcher work a little bit. I know you are dying to reclaim your seat on the bench eating sunflower seeds and drinking Gatorade, but make it look like you care at least.

10. Kevin "The Sheriff" Malone: Sure its been years since he was the GM, but the Dodgers are barely getting over the moves he made. Signing Brown and Dreifort to long term deals and basically eating the contracts prevented the Dodgers from doing very much before this year. Are you aware that those two guys made 170 million dollars for a total of like 30 wins between the two of them? Yeah it hurts a little.

There are so many other reasons why the Dodgers are where they are. They could easily be winning the west by 15 games, but instead are under .500 and tied for last place. Oh well.......

…at least training camps have started.

The Heat is Not Hot

Could it be any hotter? I highly doubt it, but who knows. Anyway this past weekend I spent my time watching two movies, going out to eat, and pretty much just doing stuff so that I could be in places with Air Conditioning (as I'm an addict for A/C). Anyway yesterday I see in the Target ad in the paper, a box fan for $10.99. I figured this would be a good addition to my new room and help things cool down at night.

So my dad and I venture out to go find a fan. We go to the Target right by our house, and they are sold out. Okay, no skin off our backs we say and go on to other places to try to find what we are looking for. We go to Home Depot, CVS Pharmacy, K-mart, Sav-on, Bed Bath & Beyond and finally to another Target. All of these places have the same thing...NO FANS! They have like mini fans that might keep our wiener dog cool, but no normal sized human will find much use for them. I understand that its summer and all, and that people are desperately trying to find fans, but honestly shouldn't someone have at least one fan? Is that too much to ask? So alas my room is still warm and my search will continue for a little bit longer.

Despite the heat I am staying hydrated at least, only with water though. I once knew a guy who tried to drink something different when it was hot. It didn't turn out so well.

"It's so damn hot... milk was a bad choice"

I'm back!

Hey everyone I know you have been dying for a new post and by dying I mean tired of looking at my last post. Thank you to everyone/anyone who donated to the Jimmy V foundation. Anyway onto some new posts.

Las Vegas:

So last weekend (July 14-16) Susan, Patrick, Christie and I ventured out in the heat to drive out to Vegas. I volunteered to drive my car as I am a A/C addict and didn't want to pass out from being without it for a few minutes. We had decided to go since our friend Tyler was racing his car at the speedway. I must say that I was quite impressed with the races, especially the drift racing. Now I really know what it means when Bow Wow said "When you're out of control, you're in control" in Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Nights.

The trip itself was non eventful for the most part, no one won any money, Patrick and I did play in a poker tournament at the Sahara (KJ screwed me!), Wynn Buffet was tasty as always (mmm real bacon mmm), and the Star Trek drink still packs a punch.

Where the trip was uneventful, the ride home was quite the opposite. Started out with a flat tire which was changed with the help of some skater guy who seemed not to impressed with our group. About 30 miles later, after going up the hills with the A/C blasting my car started to putter, and made some weird noises. I pulled off to the side of the road. The car wouldn't start and we were stuck out there for about an hour till the also unimpressed AAA guy came and told me my car had vapor lock. Thanks again to Tyler for coming to rescue Patrick and Susan.

Diamond Club Angel Game:

On July 17th, I was able to obtain Diamond Club seats for the Angels vs. Indians Game. These are the seats right behind home plate and where you can go eat at the fancy smancy restaurant/bar inside the stadium. We had the stadium buffet which consisted of steak, chicken, pasta, red snapper, really good turkey and other side dishes. Needless to say it was worth the cost, plus our waitress was cool and played along with our retarded jokes, and trust me there were many. While in the diamond club bar area we ran into Chuck Finley. You may remember him as an Angel and Indians pitcher from the 90s. You may also remember that he got beat up by his wife Tawny. This should refresh your memory:

In the end the Angels won, lots of runs were scored, and we realized that we had been spoiled by the good seats and good food. Oh and in case you were wondering we kept our work clothes on so we could look like we belonged there and weren't just some random people. I'm sure it worked!

Don't Give up...Don't Ever Give up

Hey guys, time for me to be serious for a few minutes. Today ESPN Radio is holding their annual auctions to benefit the V foundation. For those of you who don't know Jim Valvano was a college basketball coach in the 80s. There is a famous video taken of him just after winning the NCAA championship for North Carolina in 1983 of him running up the court frantically looking for someone to celebrate with.

Sadly, Jim Valvano was diagnosed with cancer in cancer in 1992 and it spread rapidly. On March 3, 1993, Valvano gave the speech above at the ESPY awards. It is by far one of the best speeches that I have ever seen. Even facing certain death, Valvano gives a passionate speech that I encourage you all to watch. Near the end, he announces the creation of the V foundation for cancer research. I am here to ask that you donate some money to help with cancer research. If you see this today you can also check out the auctions on Ebay

Anyway check out the auctions, the V-foundation and the video of the speech, thats what I ask of you today.

"To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special."

Congratulations to Italy for winning the World Cup. I thought they were cheated out of a goal in the 2nd half due to an offsides call, but I guess in the end it doesn't matter. I was disappointed to see the French captain Zinedine Zidane end his career on such a dirty and uncalled for play. I guess everyone loses their head for a minute, but in the championship game? Since the American team tied the Italian team, that means they are equal to the champions and thus should be considered co-champs right? I'll start the rioting now...USA! USA! USA!

My 4th of July

For the past two years I have started my own tradition for how I celebrate the Independence Day, it's the Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Competition. I got up at 8 am (thanks to the sun that shines directly on my face) and turn on ESPN to see some of the finest athletes the world has to offer in the sport of competitive eating (yes it is a sport, i was told numerous times by the announcers).

It was an exceptionally hot and muggy day in New York City which many thought might hurt the athletes, but they were called up one my one with ESPN showing their stats. Stats for eaters are what kind of food they excel at eating the most of. I saw one guy who ate 5 1/2 lbs of corned beef and cabbage, one guy that holds the record for ice cream, another that had the record for cake. As you can see they truly had assembled the giants of the sport for this, the most recognized championship in the world of competitive eating.

The event mainly focused on the two superstars of the sport: the up and coming rookie eater Joey Chestnut and the man, the myth, the legend of hot dog eating Kobayashi...the 5 time champion and record holder going into the event.

Chestnut got out to an early lead, and led the record holder early on. This led to the announcers giving some great quotes like: "What a man! He represents the American Eating Class!" or "If Chestnut hold on he can change the course of the nation!" Yes they really did say that by eating hot dogs it could change the course of the nation. For a minute I thought I was listening to Rex Hudler. In the end of course, Kobayashi was able to come back and go ahead of Chestnut.

I think losing was pretty devastating to Chestnut who had been practicing for weeks by eating 40 hot dogs at least once a week. I think he is one to watch in the years to come. We must take back the championship from Japan! This is America, hot dogs are the crap food that we eat and we need to show it! Next year i want to see someone go for 60 hot dogs and shatter Kobayashi's new record of 53 1/4. Oh well I guess I'll have to wait til July 4, 2007.... I hate waiting. Well at least I don't feel as bad as Chestnut does in this picture.

At least I'm not like this girl

Okay you all know or should know that I hate most vegetables and for that matter, most food. That said, at least I don't have some weird phobia of them that would make me as crazy as this chick.....enjoy

Now thats cheese

Because I know my readers are dying for another list to critique, I now give to you the Top Ten Cheesiest Movie Moments/Quotes. This list was actually harder to put together than I thought it would be.

#10

Yulaw: The Multiverse, every universe in it, is irrational, sloppy. I try to make it rational. I try to make it neat. You call it murder. How can I murder myself 123 times? (this actually became cheesier thanks to mac)

#9

Rafe: Danny, you can't die. You can't die. You know why? 'Cause you're gonna be a father. You're gonna be a daddy. I wasn't supposed to tell you. You're gonna be a father.
Danny: No, you are.

#8

Storm: Do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning?
The same thing that happens to everything else.

#7

Benjamin Martin: Before this war is over, I'm going to kill you.

#6

Rocky Balboa: If I can change, we can all change!

#5

Rose: I will never let go (it makes it cheesier to me that she lets go right after she says this, and yes i get that she meant it emotionally not physically, but i still find it funny)

#4

Dorothy Boyd: You had me at hello

#3

Mr. Freeze: Allow me to break the ice. My name is Freeze. Learn it well. For it's the chilling sound of your doom. (In all honesty, anything that Arnold says in this movie is cheesy. Seriously go look at the dialogue that he says, its spectacular!)

#2

Anakin Skywalker: Mom, you said that the biggest problem in the universe is no one helps each other. (I hate you Jake Lloyd....seriously)

#1

President Thomas Whitmore: Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. "Mankind." That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom...Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution...but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight!" We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

I accept all comments or suggestions for replacements.

Happy 46th Birthday John

Thank you for getting the Broncos 2 superbowl championships and preventing torment from all those who said my team was a bunch of chokers and losers

Show People

I've been to a few shows over the years. Not quite as many as some other people I know, but I think I have seen enough to make a pretty glossary of people you see at a typical show, with pictures and a brief description.

Weed Guy: This is the guy you always see who as soon as he gets in the concert starts to blaze up and doesn't stop until the end of the last encore. His music listening experience is, in his mind only good when he is high. By the end of the show, he is barely standing, and barely awake. He basically wastes a lot of money to get high in public.

Often heard saying things like: whoa! This is amazing! I'm hungry! You gotta try this stuff!

Old Dude: This is the guy who looks like he is about 40 years to old to be at a show. He is trying to act cool, but realistically its just sad. You may see him trying to be cool by getting in the pit, or mixing it up with some younger hooligans, but for the most part we all realize he is far to old to be here.

Often heard saying things like: C'mon, YEAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Basically anything to not show his age.

Wannabe Punk Kid: This is the guy who won't conform to society's rules. He wears his hair in some odd way, has tattoos all over his body and basically tries to bring attention to himself. Although he craves the attention he also doesn't like it when people treat him differently because of his look, which is odd since that’s the purpose of his look. Generally speaking he is there to rebel against whatever is bugging him. For the most part he serves little or no purpose to anyone.

Often heard saying things like: Lots of expletives, society pushing him down, him being way more into what the music really stands for, and perhaps something about working at the cinnabon.

Band Guy: This is the guy who is in a band himself, but just hasn't hit it big like the group up on stage. Sure he has played maybe a few small clubs/venues in his time, and he is working at his local independent record store until he signs that big deal to make him the star that he knows he is. He may even bring flyers to one of his upcoming "shows" at his friend’s party.

Often heard saying thins like: What do you listen too? Oh we sound like them, yeah I’m in a band, and I’m working through some things till we can get the band going. You should come check us out; I think you'll like us.

The Collector: This is the guy who lets it be know how much better he is than you by telling you how many shows he has been too. This type of person usually travels with a group of followers (there is no leader). They usually have a band shirt from a different show that lets you know that they were there and that you weren't. They are really there for the music which is good, but going to all these different shows/events it really makes you wonder if it loses its purpose.

Often heard saying things like: Oh yeah I saw "insert random band name" at "insert random venue location" it was so much better than when I saw "insert obscure band name" at "insert obscure band location"
